How a planner can make you happier
I’ve written in previous Happiness Letters about how planning your future happiness can make you happy in the present, and how setting goals can make you happier than achieving goals.
Putting your thoughts on paper can help you process emotions and experiences as well. And when you’re feeling overwhelmed, writing in a planner can help you to focus on what’s within your control.
Overcoming ‘planxiety’
I’m super nerdy about keeping a planner, but that wasn’t always the case. Being an anxious sort, I initially found that committing to a planner was yet another source of anxiety! Or ‘planxiety’, if you will. Symptoms included:
😵💫 Indecision about which planner was the best one to use. There are just too many lovely ones out there!
😩 Fear of committing to the daily ritual of using a planner. I’m busy enough already!
🥴 Feeling like I’d ruin a planner by actually writing in it.
😟 Feeling guilty/wasteful for skipping pages.
